Care decoration is an art that is perfected through consistent practice. Some decorators have been able to deliver plum decorations. But these decorations would not have been possible without the application of certain techniques. Here, we discuss some cake decorating techniques:

Painting on sugar: This entails using a dampened paintbrush to apply coloring on the sugar paste.

Stippling: Stippling is the art of making small dots on the surface of icing by using a medium sized brush.

Piping on icing: A nozzle is placed in a piping bag and then filled with icing. Thereafter, the design of choice is drawn or written on the surface of the cake. The kind of nozzle used is one of the things that would determine the pattern that would be produced. Also, the way- angle and pressure applied on the nozzle- one handles the piping bag affects [either positively or otherwise] the result. There are other advanced methods of piping; for instance, the Lambeth method.

Shaping the cake: Some craftiness will be needed here as one attempts to trim the cake to the desired shape. A serrated knife will be very handy for this purpose.

The aforementioned are just basic techniques used in decorating cakes; cake connoisseurs are adept in creating bespoke decorating techniques to suit certain occasions.
